Clinical Psychologist/Behavioral Health Specialist (Full-Time)


  • To provide a full range of Integrated Behavioral Health diagnosis and treatment services for the Lāna’i Community Health Center (LCHC), a federally qualified
    health center (FQHC) on the island of Lāna’i. This position is located in a remote, rural general practice setting, with approximately 3,000 residents from diverse backgrounds, and is eligible for the Hawaii State loan repayment program.
  • This position is a full‐me, exempt position, with full benefits.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Doctorate or Masters Degree in psychology/counseling or related field; Prefer two or more years of experience; Prefer experience with Adults and Chronic Disease Management in a health‐care setting.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current Hawaii licensure or licenseeligible within 3‐6 months of hire. Eligible for credentialing with third‐party
insurance carriers.

JOB OVERVIEW:    Provide dental services to LCHC patients, including screenings, preventive, restorative and emergency dentistry. Participates in community screenings and oral health education events. LCHC is a patient care, teaching and research organization and also provides workshops, education sessions and outreach – all employees should expect to be involved with these activities to the extent to which will depend upon their position in the organization.


  1. Knowledge of examining patients, diagnose dental diseases and provide proper cure in terms of medicines and surgical treatments.
  2. Ability to make decisions regarding replacement of teeth, cleaning, filling, extracts with use of hand instruments, medications etc.
  3. Development and implementation of treatment plans including suitable heal according to the condition
  4. Manage maintain the stocks for surgical materials or medicines
  5. Maintain friendly, professional relationship with the patients to educate them about the complications of treatment and duration of healing process
  6. Document services appropriately in electronic medical record including medical history and current dental formation.
  7. Educate patients with regard to general care, presentations and cleanness of teeth at regular time intervals
  8. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of latest dental treatment techniques
  9. Assist with recruitment of staff to complete a dental team
  10. Ability to maintain and train the staff
  11. Motivate the staff to work tenderly and be friendly with patients and maintain dental treatment standards


  • Good time management, multitasking and stress management skills to be able to ensure that tasks get completed on time
  • Good team work and leadership skills are essential in order to motivate different groups of people to fulfill their responsibilities within a given time frame
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Demonstrated familiarity with, understanding of, and sensitivity to the issues and experiences of Lāna’i community residents
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other team members and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to recognize crises that may arise and strictly follow protocols for response to crises
  • Friendly, approachable attitude and ability to remain open-minded when encountering diversity in thought, gender, culture, language, and behavior
  • Ability to facilitate and engage members of the Lāna’i community at divergent levels of skill, attention, development, and interest
  • Professional experience in gathering and interpreting data
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and electronic systems
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evening and weekend availability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.


  • DDS or DMD degree required
  • Experience in community health setting preferred


Supervision of dental assistants, contractors, vendors, etc., may be required
